This luxurious, privately owned, all-inclusive boutique hotel situated on the west coast of Antigua has 27 secluded suites nestled between beautiful gardens, beachfronts and hillsides. Escape from your busy lifestyle and savour local cuisine and exciting attractions in paradise.

Nestling into a breathtaking, hidden cove on the southwest coast of Antigua, Hermitage Bay is surrounded by lush, untouched hillsides and the brilliant blue waters of the Caribbean Sea. In the distance, the islands of Montserrat, St. Kitt’s and Nevis form silhouettes on the skyline. The large, natural mangrove that adjoins the property supports a unique and intriguing eco-system of its own and enhances the natural beauty of the bay with its still, dark waters and diverse plant life. Hermitage Bay is about 35 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from the capital of St. John’s and just 10 minutes away from the Jolly Harbour marina complex that offers shops, restaurants, golf and tennis. While the hotel is close enough to accommodate day trips into town or excursions around the island, a private, unmade road separates Hermitage Bay from the rest of the world, contributing to its seclusion.

When you are staying in one of the luxury accommodations at Sandy Lane, it is like staying in the house of a special and hospitable friend; they believe passionately in making you feel at home while vacationing in Barbados. The Barbados accommodations feature villas and suites that are so spacious and comfortable you will never want to leave.

Of the 27 individual suites, 10 are positioned on the beach and the remaining 17 have been built on the hillside to maximise views and privacy. All suites face the sea and the views range from tropical gardens and the white-sand beach to spectacular panoramas of the bay, mangroves and distant harbour. The suites are constructed from purpleheart, greenheart and other woods from sustainably managed forests in Guyana. The décor is one of natural luxury – pristine white linens, ivory cushions and creamy white walls soften the rich hues of the wooden floor and furniture. All rooms have outdoor showers and slatted louvre windows.

    Garden Suites

The Garden Suites are identical to the Beachfront Suites in every way but are situated one row back from the beach. They do still have wonderful sea views between the Beachfront Suites.

    Beachfront Suites

The Beachfront Suites stand right on the soft white sand of Hermitage Bay itself, with unobstructed views of the Caribbean Sea. Each room has a spacious, split-level, open-plan living and sleeping area, ensuite bathroom, outdoor shower and covered sun-deck with a small dining area, double day bed and plantation chairs. The rooms are just a few steps from the pool, lounge and restaurant.

    Hillside Pool Suites

The views from the Hillside Pool Suites are stunning; wide panoramas of the Caribbean Sea and lush landscape that surrounds the hotel. The dense foliage and flowering climbers around each suite shield the private sundeck and plunge pool, proving optimal privacy for our guests. Each hillside suite has a spacious, wrap-around covered deck, complete with sun-loungers, double day bed, sofa, small dining table and plantation chairs. The Hillside Suites are built to a standard size and carefully positioned on the hill behind the beach to maximise the view and privacy of its occupants. The Hillside Suites are those at the very top with the most magnificent views and seclusion.

At Hermitage Bay you will enjoy delicious meals made with the best, freshest and highest quality ingredients. The Executive Chef, Desroy Spence, and his team in the kitchen deliver a 5-star varied menu, mixing the best of Modern European cuisine with Caribbean favourites and American classics. Menus change daily and there is always an opportunity to try something new. They use locally-sourced produce wherever possible, ensuring that they only have the freshest ingredients, as well as reducing food miles and supporting local businesses. Quite a large portion of the fruit and vegetables they use is now grown in their very own organic garden.

For dinner, the restaurant transforms into a more formal dining area with subtle lighting, candles and drapery. There is live music every night and the beat of steel drums, calypso or jazz accompanies the natural orchestra of the waves rolling onto the beach.

The lounge area is right next to the beach and pool and is a great place to unwind with a cocktail, a cup of tea or a good book. Have lunch there if you prefer a slightly less formal feel. In the evening, it is candle-lit and atmospheric – the place to gather for drinks, canapés and coffees (and even dancing) before or after dinner.

Take breakfast, lunch or dinner on our beautiful patio, under the shady almond trees right on the beach.
