The elegant five-star hotel, located in Tuscany’s Maremma region, was built in the mid-1960s as a love nest for Michael and Patricia Graham and it is today part of The Leading Hotels of the World. The home, called Il Pellicano as a tribute to the first time the couple met at Pelican Point in California, was initially a club for the Grahams’ friends, but was subsequently expanded and opened to friends of friends.
However, a few things remained the same: the pleasure of feeling at home and the glamorous and slightly retro atmosphere. The hotel’s discrete luxury and the still-rugged Tuscan countryside attract the international jet set. Today, the cottages and the central building are suspended between the sky and the sea, with large rooms, windows, terraces and still welcome a very exclusive clientele.

Hotel Il Pellicano overlooks a stunning Argentario’s bay, in Tuscany, very close to Porto Ercole, and it is composed by a group of cottages and a central villa. The rooms, cottages and suites, that through the years have hosted the international jet set, are all different, but they have in common subtle colours, original decorations, fine fabrics and refined furnishings, chosen by the designer Marie Louise Sciò.
In the fragrant Mediterranean scrubland, among cypress trees and centuries-old olive trees, rise 34 double rooms, 5 junior suites, 4 deluxe suites and 7 master deluxe suites.
In addition, one or more cottages are available for exclusive rental to enjoy absolute privacy.
The design in each room goes back over to the traditional Tuscan houses’ atmosphere, thanks to typical furniture, paintings, ceramics and warm wood refinement.

There are deluxe suites in both the central building and in the cottages, where a remarkable view of the sea and Tyrrhenian coast can be enjoyed from their balconies and terraces.

    Il Pellicano

In this elegant five-star hotel in Tuscany, today part of The Leading Hotels of the World, Chef Sebastiano Lombardi’s cuisine is always a lovely surprise, thrilling and satisfying all five senses. The restaurant dining room is a large veranda overlooking the sea, opening onto the terrace facing the garden. The walls are decorated with wallpaper reproducing a drawing by Piero Fornasetti, and original 1960s appliqués created by Italian craftsmen.
The lamps are made of bird cages, and the large windows frame the moonlight reflecting off the Argentario’s sea. The kitchen uses only seasonal organic fruits and vegetables, plus the day’s catch and organic meat from carefully selected local producers. Under the skilled touch of our Michelin-starred chef, food becomes a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Guests with a sweet tooth will be thrilled by the parade of desserts and the Tuscan dessert cart, plus a selection of the finest chocolates. At Il Pellicano, the day always starts off right, with the fragrance of freshly-baked cakes and breads, freshly-perked coffee, jams, yogurt, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, cheeses from local dairies, and organic eggs.

The Pelligrill is a traditional seaside restaurant located halfway between the beach and the hotel, where it’s convenient to stop for a quick noontime meal or to meet friends for a relaxing dinner.
It’s also the perfect place to stop off after a boat trip, and enjoy a lunch of Tuscan specialties. Every day you will have plenty of choice among grilled fish and meat, seasonal vegetables, salads and traditional Mediterranean dishes plus delicious desserts.

The wine cellar is a secret oasis with more than 800 labels. Our sommelier will be ready to delight you with some of the best red Tuscan wines like Sassicaia, Solaia, Tignanello, Soldera or white ones like Gaja&Rey, Chardonnay Cuvée de Bois and the scented Batar di Querciabella.
Super bubbles, always at the right temperature, fizzing up in the bottles of Cristal, Krug Clos du Mesnil e Krug Clos de Ambonnay, Don Perignon, Bollinger, Jacquesson e Dom Ruinart. You can also buy our wines and enjoy them at your home or you can discover their secrets and virtues during one of the tasting events organized by our sommelier.

    Bar & Cocktail

Argentario’s evenings at Hotel Il Pellicano begin with a Pelican Martini, symbol of the bar and of our legendary Federico Morosi, bartender and incredible entertainer. For him, every bottle in the bar is like a book to be perused, and on his shelves, he displays niche liqueurs made by small producers, as well as bottles from special reserves.

This hotel Leading Hotels of the World that overlooks the Tuscan sea has also an outdoor bar, an area with wooden chairs and coffee tables where drinks are served any time of the day or night: a mid-morning coffee, a cool glass of wine before lunch, fresh fruit juice mid-afternoon and cocktails in the evening.
