    Sir Richard Branson’s Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is set in the heart of the Sabi Sand reserve on the border of the Kruger National Park in South Africa.

    lusaba strikes the perfect balance between nature and nurture – as well as being an excellent place to observe the ‘Big Five’, it is also an ideal place to kick back and unwind. Ulusaba re-defines the rules of a safari lodge by offering swimming pools, gymnasiums, a wine cellar, Aroma Boma spas with panoramic views, a Bush Observatory perfect for star gazing and tennis courts. Make sure you save time to enjoy the safari walks, moon-lit bush dinners and of course, the twice daily game drives.

    Most of Ulusaba’s staff hail from the surrounding villages therefore guests benefit from authentic South African hospitality. They promote from within where they can, and support the local community through their charitable project, Pride ‘n Purpose. The Ulusaba family of 119 individuals includes some of the finest and most qualified rangers and trackers in the reserve, who guarantee the experience of a lifetime on game drive.

    ROOMS & SUITES

    Sir Richard Branson’s award winning Ulusaba Private Game Reserve is set in Sabi Sand and traverses over 13,500 hectares of unspoilt game rich bush in big 5 territory. With two beautiful lodges set 0.5km apart and offering two different perspectives over the bush, guests can share their time between the two lodges – Rock Lodge and Safari Lodge.

    SAFARI LODGE

    Safari Lodge is built along the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed, where guests will love the sense of adventure as they cross the swing bridges between exquisite tree house rooms, created and inspired by local and natural materials, with elephant, bushbuck, lion and other local wildlife passing by. Safari Lodge can accommodate up to 22 guests in 11 rooms and suites.

    The lead in room category at Ulusaba, they have three adjoining Safari Rooms close to the Main Lodge, offering large viewing decks and en-suite bathrooms with great views.

     

     

     

    Elephant Room (x3): 60 sqm

    Built tree house style high above the bush, they have three spacious Elephant Rooms with en-suite bathrooms and large viewing decks offering stunning views over the bush.

     

     

     

    River Room (x4): 100 sqm

    Built tree house style and very private they have four River Rooms, of which River Rooms 2 and 4 offer private infinity plunge pools. All are very spacious and offer en-suite bathrooms with views. River Rooms 2, 3 and 4 are accessible by swing bridge and are a short walk from the main Lodge.

    A spacious and very private suite featuring a private deck with views over Xikwenga Dam where hippos and elephants come to bathe. There is also a large viewing deck adjacent to the room perfect for breakfasts, lunches and private dinners accommodating 16 people.

    ROCK LODGE
    Rock Lodge is perched high on the summit of a koppie and provides panoramic views across the bush and the Drakensberg Mountain range, the wildlife roaming within and the beauty of the lowveld below. Recently refurbished 8 rooms and suites at Rock Lodge have been given a fabulous facelift. Each is unique with a contemporary African design and a hint of tribal flair. In addition to Cliff Lodge featuring two magnificent suites they can accommodate a total of 20-25 guests and welcomes children of all ages to the Ulusaba Cub’s Club.

    There are four adjoining Rock Cliff rooms, all south facing with views over the vast landscape. Rooms are spacious and offer en-suite bathrooms with spectacular views. Two of these rooms are built on split levels with a spiral staircase connecting the bedroom and bathroom.

    A spacious two bedroom suite with living area, the master bedroom can be split into a twin and has a full en-suite with views over the bush, and the second queen bedded room has a smaller en-suite shower room.

    Built on three levels with beautiful views, an en-suite bathroom, and private balcony with infinity plunge pool. The living area has another terrace with sun loungers and features a telescope, and iPod docking station.

     

     

     

    Makwela Suite (x2): 125 sqm

    2 lavish suites built on two levels with full en-suite bathrooms and featuring private balconies with infinity edge plunge pools. With separate living area and study/library, each has a luxurious fold-out sleeper couch suitable for children.

     

     

     

    Cliff Lodge
    Located a short walk from the Main House at Rock Lodge, features two magnificent suites offering guests the ultimate in safari luxury. When you hire both suites for exclusive use your own chef and private vehicle for game drives is included. Cliff Lodge can accommodate a maximum of 5 adults and 4 children when booked exclusively. The two Cliff Lodge Suites can also be booked individually within 4 months prior to guest arrival.

    A luxurious two bedroom suite accommodating up to 3 adults and 2 children with one large bedroom and a second smaller bedroom. Cliff Lodge 1 offers a spacious lounge with fireplace, separate kitchen and bar and also features a small spa, gym and an outdoor deck with a large pool.

     

     

     

    Cliff Lodge 2: 120 sqm

    A spacious one bedroom suite accommodating up to 2 adults and 2 children on 2 small pull out beds. Cliff Lodge 2 offers a lounge area with fireplace and a large viewing deck with Jacuzzi. A TV in the lounge with DVD player and a selection of DVD’s is provided in both Cliff Lodge Suites.

    What can you expect to find in all rooms at Ulusaba?
    King size beds (except for the second bedroom in Rock Suite and the second bedroom in Cliff Lodge Suite 1).
    A well-stocked complimentary mini bar with snacks, tea and coffee-making facilities, bottled water, safety deposit box, Bose or iPod station, hair dryer, spray-on insect repellent, Africology toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.
    All rooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans and mosquito nets as well as en-suite bathrooms and a terrace or balcony.

    DINING & COCKTAILS

    Your stay at Ulusaba includes all meals and unlimited drinks. Ulusaba has a fine wine list, including top South African vintages and French champagne. In fact, there’s a glass of bubbly waiting for you the moment you arrive! Ulusaba Private Game Reserve has talented chefs that prepare each meal and there are unique African dishes alongside other international choices. Dinner is a feast and they’re always happy to accommodate special diets or particular favourites. With local spices and flavours , you can taste Africa in every bite.

    There is a wine cellar at Safari Lodge with an outdoor dining area for up to eight guests – great for private dining. The wine cellar overlooks the waterhole and dry riverbed which attract all kinds of game. Guests staying at Rock Lodge are welcome to visit the wine cellar at Safari Lodge.

    ACTIVITIES

    Aroma Boma Spa Treatment
    The Aroma Boma at Ulusaba is the perfect antidote to all the excitement of being out on the game drives. Book in for a relaxing treatment, from facial rituals to massage to essential grooming.The Aroma Boma at Rock Lodge is located 800 feet above the African Savannah with truly stunning views over the Bush and offers complete privacy.

    At Safari Lodge, The Aroma Boma is built on the banks of the dry Mabrak riverbed amongst the trees and away from the main lodge area, so the only likely disturbance is perhaps the odd elephant wandering past! Ulusaba uses a range of products from ‘Africology’. ‘Africology’ prides itself on its African roots, taking inspiration from home and using local active ingredients including Rooibos, Aloe, Marula and African Potato. Spa treatment are available for an additional charge.

     

    Stargazing
    Guests can enjoy a star gazing evening as part of their game viewing experience at our Observatory in the Bush. Our Rangers will teach all about the constellations you
    can see from points in the southern hemisphere!

    Shopping
    The Gift Shop situated at Safari Lodge is filled with a selection of arts, crafts, small gifts and clothing ranging from caps, shirts and beanies to gloves. It’s the perfect place
    to buy a little something for your friends, family or even yourself, and has all the bits and pieces you may need when on holiday.

    Treehouse Viewing Deck
    The Treehouse Viewing Deck overlooking the Xikwenga Dam is a great place to get even further into the Bush to see where the hippos and elephants come to bathe. The Treehouse is a 15 minute walk along the elevated walkway from Safari Lodge.

    Walking in the Bush
    The daily Safari walk usually commences after breakfast. This is a fascinating activity as it allows you to observe the smaller animals that you would usually not see while out on the game vehicles. The knowledgeable Rangers and Trackers will enthral you with stories about the medicinal properties
    of plants, local beliefs regarding the wildlife and fascinating facts.

     

    Working out
    There are gymnasiums situated at both Rock Lodge and Safari Lodge, available for guests to use 24 hours a day.

     

    Tennis in the Bush
    They have two floodlit tennis courts for you to play on during your stay. Don’t worry about tennis racquets and tennis balls – they have everything you need as well as a fully stocked bar!
